| as global unity under one leader is a very present-day, international concept, not confined to one religion. The plain Bible answer is that it is from the workings of Satan. We have already discovered that Satan uses beautiful things to act as a bait for his traps. Mary the mother of Jesus was a very special person and if the evil one can appear as Mary, then thousands of all religions the world over will believe these apparitions and be united in homage to her. We know from the Bible studies in this series that the dead sleep until the resurrection. Mary has been dead for many hundreds of years. The dead do not take part in the affairs of this world. They are asleep. The dead, even Mary, rest in the ground. |

“Wilt thou show wonders to the dead? Shall the dead arise and praise thee? Shall thy loving kindness be declared in the grace? ... Shall thy wonders be known in the dark? Or thy righteousness in the land of forgetfulness?” Psalm 88:10-12.
“The dead know not anything.” Ecclesiastes 9:5,6.
“For now I shall sleep in the dust.”

“For the Lord Himself shall descend with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God, and the dead in Christ shall rise ..”
“And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works. 2 Corinthians 11:14,15.
“For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall show great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.” Matthew 24;24 |

With these Bible statements, we are faced with a choice – are the apparitions of Mary from God, or are they an appealing and gentle deception to lead us into the paths of spiritualism? They are real appearances; they are not an illusion, just as images genuinely shed tears. The tears are wet. The hair grows; it can be cut. The familiar fragrance is real to our nostrils.
But we have to make a decision in our minds: do we believe the Bible? or the power of tradition combined with the senses of sight, hearing, and smell? These are some of the strongest tests and deceptions, but they have to be placed alongside the fact that the aims and goals found in the Roman Catholic Church – international unity of all |
| faiths and religions to bring about international political unity are also found in the New Age and spiritualism. All believe in the immortality of the soul and therefore they are but a small step from each other. It is on this common ground that work is being done to prepare for a New World Order, where politics and religion will go hand in hand to unite separated brethren. The Bible tells us of ‘the rulers of darkness of this world’ and ‘spiritual wickedness in high places’. It tells us that ‘we do not wrestle against flesh and blood.’ We are told to 'watch and pray always. Luke 21:36. |
