entirely public. That is to say, he will concern himself continuously with the alteration of social conditions and for the first time in modern history democracy will have found its one superb leader … His work will succeed because he will be above nationality and above sect.”
Here is another projected report of this expected being, this time from a Roman Catholic writer, Bishop J. Fulton Sheen,
“He will come disguised as a great humanitarian; he will talk peace and prosperity and plenty … In the midst of all his seeming love for humanity |

… he will have one great secret which he will tell no-one; he will not believe in God.”
And another quotation from The Great Controversy, page 624: “As the crowning act in the great drama of deception, Satan himself will personate Christ. The church has long professed to look for the Saviour’s advent as the consummation of her hopes. Now the great deceiver will make it appear that Christ has come. In different parts of the earth, Satan will manifest himself among men as a majestic being of dazzling brightness resembling the description of the Son of God given by John in the Revelation. [Revelation 1:13-15] The glory that surrounds him is unsurpassed by anything that mortal eyes have yet beheld. The shout of triumph rings out upon the air, Christ has come! Christ has come! The people prostrate themselves in adoration before him while he lifts up his hands and pronounces a blessing upon them, as Christ blessed his disciples when he was upon the earth. His voice is soft and subdued, yet full of melody.”
The spirit world has already caused deceptive appearances of Christ’s mother, and these are reverenced and believed. More recently apparitions of Buddha have been recorded. It has been recently said that it would be no surprise if Peter were to return to this earth as Pope, or Princess Diana as a great world figure. |

But Mary is dead and waiting in her grave for the Second Coming, so is Princess Diana and so also is Peter, who wrote so much about the Second Advent. They do not visit this earth. So what or who will be the person that deceives the whole world? Satan and his demons will be transformed to deceive us and come as Christ or as apostles. If you believe that the spirits of the dead can come to and fro between our world and their world to influence this planet, then in a time of great political and social perplexity, which seems to be almost upon us, they could deceive millions. Remember prophecy has told us ahead of time that worship will be the great issue. |

It will be said that because we have rejected the commandments, the world is in the predicament that it is. This is why such a deceptive appearance will turn the world, except for a small number who have chosen to follow God and not tradition and God.
Is there any protection from these deceptions that Jesus warned about?
In a world looking for signs and wonders, and with an almost universal belief in the immortality of the soul, these appearances pave the way for what could be the devil’s master-card in deception. How can we be saved from being deceived? |
