JESUS’ WARNINGS OF DECEPTIONS |
|
|
This may be almost the most important section on this website. It reveals what will be the greatest deception of all time. A deception is something that appears real but is a look-alike only, a counterfeit.
In Matthew 24 the disciples had asked Jesus a question. ‘What shall be the sign of Thy coming and of the end of the world?’ Jesus’ reply was an unusual one. He said, ‘Take heed that no man deceive you.’ Throughout His talk with them, there were repeated warnings about deception. He told them that false christs would come and they would deceive many. Then He told them of false prophets that would come and deceive many. Later in his discourse Jesus said, quite specifically, that if anyone came and said, ‘Lo here is Christ, or there; believe it not, for there shall arise false Christs and false prophets and shall show great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.’ Matthew 24:23,24. That means that counterfeits will come that could appear as Christ. For Jesus Christ said, I will come again. Unless one is well grounded in the Bible verses about the Jesus will come again, one could easily be taken in by the deceptions. The counterfeits will come first. In Bible history the counterfeits have always come before the true event.
Every religion is looking for a ‘messiah type’ figure, Messiah, Maitreya, Imam Mahdi, Krishna, and Jesus Christ. The question has been posed, “What if he came in our life time?” This demonstrates the expectation that is around the world. Many Christian denominations are awaiting Christ’s return in one form or another. The international climate is therefore right for Satan to work an overmastering deception. 2 Corinthians 11:13 ‘For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.’ The book of Revelation speaks of a time when Satan’s agents will bring down fire from heaven and do wonders, by a method yet to be seen, which will deceive the whole world. Revelation 13:13,14. ‘He doeth great wonders, so that he maketh fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of man. And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles.’ Having deceived them, he makes statements that lead them to worship according to the dictates of an earthly institution, and not according to the Ten Commandments of God, especially the fourth commandment which bids us worship only the Creator and to worship Him on His day, which is the seventh day of the week, Saturday. God’s commandment has not changed. The final chapters of the book of Revelation are about worship, whether we worship God or another.
Here is one record of such an expected leader coming to the world as a Christ. The pronouncement was made by an astrologer, who practises a branch of spiritualism. |

“A great new leader who will deliver the world from chaos is about to arise… He will be an orator with a bewitching voice,. He will speak poetry naturally and there will be music in his gestures. His knowledge will be colossal and his judgements nearly as perfect as we can imagine. In everything he does there will be an uncanny accuracy, and it is possible those who come into contact with him will feel they have never before met anyone of so sweet temper, so gracious, or so good to look upon. Wherever he goes, people will love him and flow to him.
“His chief work will be the breaking up of all the militarist ideas and institutions we know today … His interests will be |
