WHAT ABOUT GHOSTS? ARE THEY REAL?

From ghoulies and ghosties,,
And long leggetty beasties,
And all things that go bump in the night -
Good Lord, deliver us!
This prayer, often found on Cornish post cards, implies that such things are real and that they must be evil, for we pray to God to deliver us from them.
Some old cities have ‘ghost walks’ with a City Council guide to take you round old sites and into buildings where ghost activity has been reported; these are very popular. Scary things have a strange fascination. There is a wide range of sights, sounds, and sensations of things out of our ordinary understanding.
The sceptics among us say it is only a sensitive imagination, and there are no such things around us. Others spend their lives tracking such experiences down and researching the great variety of phenomena. Others are terrified.
There have been television programmes and films about ghosts, for children and adults alike. Some spirits are considered benign; others are filled with a malevolent force to harm those that meddle.
Are these the spirits of the dead coming back to haunt us or to dwell with us again? We talk of coming back to haunt someone to get our own back for bad words or deeds said or done against us. Some people seriously believe this. When I was a child, I went to school near a cemetery. On dark wet evenings, none of my friends would go that way home, but rather choose the longer route. And there was war in heaven, Michael [Christ] and His angels fought against the dragon (Satan) and his angels; and the dragon fought and his angels and prevailed not. Neither was their place found any more in heaven, ...He was cast into the earth and his angels were cast out with him. Revelation 12:7-9.

How many would this have been? The Bible describes vast numbers of angels and so Satan must have brought many, many rebellious angels with him to this world. This is how many angels Daniel saw in his vision of the throne of God,

A fiery stream issued from before Him; thousand thousands ministered before Him and ten thousand times ten thousand stood before Him. Daniel 7:10

John in the book of Revelation also saw the throne of God and he wrote of seeing these same angels and hearing their voices.

And the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand and thousands of thousands. Revelation 5:11

spirit beings like Satan. This means that they are not always visible to us, but they are in our world. They chose to rebel against God as had Satan and so they too were thrown out into this world.
These angels are not a force for good, only for evil, however deceptively benign they may appear on children’s television. They have not changed. They are still in direct opposition to God. Their main concern is to deceive. A relationship with such a spirit being may
