have an innocent beginning, but with repeated contact, the power becomes too hard to escape from in our own strength, without the power of God.
These experiences are not safe. They are not to be sought or dabbled with, even for fun or a dare, whether it be with ouija boards, tumblers, Halloween games, ghost walks, or spending nights seeking paranormal experiences. There are thousands upon thousands of evil angels in our world waiting to trap us.
One strong word of warning. The devil will often blend with religious activities. He knows that such people already believe in a
spiritual world and so he uses methods other than ghosts to trap the unsuspecting. Today many people are seeking a manifestation of the power of the Holy Spirit, longing for the expected sign gifts and power gifts. There are many small house groups and fellowships, who worship ‘in the spirit‘. We hear from people who attended on a regular basis and allowed themselves to be taken over by this spirit, with shaking, laughing, crying or ‘speaking in tongues.’ At times there may only be a sensation of a ‘flowing’ passing over the group like a river. One by one, members of the group are affected. This experience also happens in more orthodox places of worship where stronger evidences would be unacceptable. At first there is exhilaration, but hours later a sense of darkness and the need for another session, almost like the need for another shot of a drug. The devil crosses all religious boundaries.
We regularly receive letters from those who are involved in meetings where this spirit is praised and worshipped. They tell us that once they begin to study the Bible and discover about overcoming sin and the power of God’s salvation, they feel assailed by the powers of darkness and fear that overwhelms them. Sometimes they ask for help, at other times they stop studying the Bible. Evil angels are real. They are in our world today. If someone begins to ‘speak in tongues,’ they have started to give themselves up to a power outside of themselves and lose their will power. This is not God’s way. God says to us, ‘Come now let us reason together.’ Isaiah 1:18.
For those not religiously minded, evil angels come in other forms to fascinate and trap, - faces appear at windows, familiar footsteps are heard in passageways, they may be bumped into in cellars, they can appear at the foot of the bed as a dear, lost loved one. They are seen and recognised in photographs hanging in buildings so that it is possible to attach a history to them. If certain possessions are removed from a property, then unpleasant things begin to happen there and to those who touched the items. There are thousands of ways in which this element of the occult shows its presence. In one village where there is an unprecedented interest in, and communication, with
such spirits, things regularly move on shelves in the shops or drop to the ground. The shopkeepers carry on without raising an eyebrow and talk to the spirits by name as it happens, asking them what they want and how they can help them. These happenings are real but they are not the spirits of the dead.
They are evil angels sent to deceive us.
Sometimes evil angels come in forms connected with pagan worship like traditional African and Caribbean spirit-worship ceremonies, and the recently discovered and documented human sacrifices of South America. These may repel us but we too are vulnerable, unless we are fully on God’s side.
When we first became aware of these things in so-called Christian worship, friends who attended spirit-filled fellowships told us that they would not let their children attend group meetings in a
