The Pope is perhaps the greatest international figure both politically and religiously, and the church he leads has the most clearly defined teachings of any on the immortality of the soul. Many smaller groups, such as Christian Scientists, with the writings of Mary Baker Eddy, have strong teachings on the immortality of the soul. It is stated in Miscellaneous Writings p.27, that God is a ‘Divine Principle’ and elsewhere she writes that ‘God embraces all substance’ offering a pantheistic view of our lives in the world. ‘Soul is the divine principle of man and never sins, hence the immortality of the soul’ Science and Health, p. 481. Mormons teach that, ‘man in his mortal state is the union of a

pre-existent spirit witha body composed of earthly elements.’ The Articles of Faith (1962) p.475. Joseph Smith is quoted as having declared that ‘since the intelligences of man are therefore without beginning, they also have no end’. This is another modern form of spiritualistic teaching.
Even those who do not claim to belong to any religion would mostly agree that the soul is immortal and lives on elsewhere. ‘The rose is flowering over the wall - out of sight, but still in bloom.’ ‘The ship is out of sight over the horizon and we sorrow. But it has not gone; it is just being welcomed by other groups of watchers.’ These are the sentiments of spiritualism often found on greetings cards or spoken in memorial services.

Satan’s two original lies have infected the minds of almost every one living. Here they are:

Ye shall not surely die i.e. you will go on living somewhere else.
Ye shall become as gods i.e. you are your own authority.

The final outworking of the long-term plan.
All that spiritualism has left to do now is to bring the Christian world into total unity, according to its original aim – to offer Christianity Plus.

Q. Why does Spiritualism focus on Christianity?
A. It is the living God that Satan is fighting. This is why he focuses on Christianity, and links his deceptions around Christian expectations.

What form does his evangelism take?
The course advertised by a large question mark is its most influential means of reaching those who believe in the immortal soul, but who have not yet linked themselves with a Christian religion. It is targeted at those who will already believe in an immortal soul by tradition, but have yet to make an active commitment to the new Christian spiritualism that is found in the churches today. The course is designed to lead to the climax of the Weekend Away. This is a joyous time together when expectations are aroused to expect the unusual. Those attending are led by the organiser into the full range of spirit phenomena. For most, this is an overwhelming experience as they are taken over, with tears, tongues and laughter, a sense of burning, tingling, and high emotion. It is based on personal ‘knowing’ and personal individual experience, that is so much applauded by the New Age. The togetherness at the end of the time is strong, and those who have had this experience
in turn introduce others to the course. It is interesting that Chris Hand in his book, Falling Short, has highlighted the fact that these same experiences can happen to those of no faith at all when they are confronted by spiritualistic healing. But the Course acting in the name of Christianity calls it the Holy Spirit. This is Satanic deception, switching off the mind and the understanding. See Falling Short, p.83. Hypnotism is mind control and leaves both the mind and will morally weaker for having been involved in it. This comes close to it.
This is the subtle evangelism that spiritualism is using to bring
